Acer palmatum 'Kasagiyama'

I bought this because it was supposed to be really hardy, even though it looked too unusual and the markings too pretty to live through a hard winter. It was ordered in 2008 and I was really disappointed with the shape, there was one long leader that stuck up and some twisted branches that were growing into each other. The first winter the long leader died and I was able to shape it up some. This year it is looking pretty good, but still has a ways to go. In 2011 looks really good. I am a little concerned that it might have vert. wilt, as it has lost a couple of questionable looing branches.
